IE8, the Scapegoat or the Champion?

I don’t think it is my place to post a long commentary on this subject, so I will instead direct you to a series of heated discussions going on around the top web design blogs. Microsoft’s choice to implement a new standards-mode toggling system into the next version of Internet Explorer (version 8, or IE8 for short), and the latest issue of A List Apart that talks about it, has created a good deal of stir in the world of web designers, and many prominent designers are speaking out against it.
